Belarus have beaten everyone to the post and are the first country to select both the performer and the song for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013. Alyona Lanskaya will fly the flag for Belarus in Malmö with her song Rhythm of Love. Alyona is no stranger to anyone who followed the national final season last year. She actually was the "winner" of EuroFest 2012 but was disqualified after the televoting procedure was disputed and the act that placed second, Litesound, were sent to Baku.

Alyona Lanskaya was born in Mogilev, Belarus on the 7th of September 1985. In 2011 she was the winner of the annual Slavianski Bazaar Festival in Vitebsk. Alyona can now join the ranks of the other Eurovision performers who have won that festival, including Ruslana, Željko Joksimović, Olexandr Ponomaryov, Polina Smolova, Donny Montell and the late Toše Proeski.

After the controversy of EuroFest 2012, Alyona Lanskaya returned to the competition and was crowned the winner again after scoring the maximum number of points from both the televoters and the jury. As we know from previous experience with Belarus, everything about their Eurovision entry is subject to change. Only time will tell if this combination of singer and song will take to the stage in Malmö next May.
