Way back in May 2012, myself, Katy and Daniel decided we wanted to share our love for Eurovision with as many people as possible. The result of many discussions was Eurovisionista.com.

I wanted to take a few minutes to look back to where we started and where we are now. There are quite a few Eurovision news sites out there now and they are doing a great job of bringing you the time sensitive content that happens around the contest. Due to that fact, we decided to go down an editorial route with Eurovisionista. We wanted to try and post the sort of articles that make you feel like you're sat having a drink with someone who loves the contest as much as you do and you are throwing around some ideas and theories together.

I built both the first Eurovisionista.com and the new one, and I'm not ashamed to say my web skills have come a long way since the first one! I love the old site. It's the original and I think I will always keep it online for nostalgia reasons. However, we needed to get up to date. The old site was a pain to view on mobile devices. The new site is responsive and has been tested on various screen sizes to make sure it looks good on each. Katy has also done a fantastic job re-designing the visual elements and I think overall, it flows much better as a site now.

I'll be perfectly honest with you, last year we were pretty terrible at getting new content published. For those of you that follow us on Twitter and come here to read our work, we truly appreciate your patience. It was a mixture of lots going on for all of us with our "real" lives and the old site being on its last legs and giving us plenty of problems with trying to publish new content.

We were hoping to have the new site up a few weeks before the 2015 contest in Vienna, Austria, but at least it's up and running before the final!

The future for Eurovisionista is, we'll keep going as long as you guys keep reading and tweeting! We really enjoy what we do here. We are a small team though, so please, if you are interested in writing articles for us, do get in touch.

We hope you enjoy the new site :)
